Each spring the Rotary Club of Red Bank runs a Food and Wine Tasting event to benefit a charity in the greater Red Bank area. This has been done through the club’s Foundation since 2001. This year the 17th annual event was held in April at the Navesink Country Club in Middletown and the recipient of the proceeds was The Community YMCA.
Event Chair Dr. Steven Sanfilippo noted that approximately 240 guests attended the “Two Rivers Food and Wine Tasting Event” including Rotary District 7500 District Governor David Forward and his wife, as well as friends, family Rotarians, and supporters of the YMCA. The Event Committee consisting of Addie Schmidt, Denise Benbrook, Ken Scaggs, Chuck Watson, Harriet Primack, Jon Schwartz, Jay Schwartz (all Rotarians) Andrea Plaza and Jodi Grinwald (YMCA representatives) worked tirelessly to present guests with an enjoyable evening.
The event offered guests a sampling of food, desserts, wine and spirits from over 25 of the area’s best eateries and liquor vendors. These included Ama Ristorante; Anna’s Italian Kitchen; Gourmet Barbara; Bistro at Red Bank; The Cheese Cave; Chef Daniel D’Alessio; Circus Liquors; Claremont Distillery; Clover Hill Coffee Roasters; Cupcake Magician; Dean’s Natural Food Market; Dish; Food Circus Super Markets, Inc.; Freshicas Juice Bar; Gaetano’s Restaurant; Jerry’s Vodka; Kim Marie’s Eat n Drink Away; Local Smoke BBQ; Lusty Lobster Seafood Market; Nothing Bundt Cakes; Salt Creek Grille; Shore Point Distributing Company; Suzi’s Sweet Shoppe; Teak Restaurant; The Black Swine; The Blooming Oven, LLC; and Yumi Neo-Asian Cuisine and Sushi.
Dr. Sanfilippo, a Past President of the Rotary Club, current Secretary and Event Chair said of the event, “Thanks to the support of local businesses and individuals, net proceeds of over $200,000 from this event have been donated to local charities. Proceeds from this community event will support our annual campaign, which provides families in need financial assistance to enroll their children in after school care, counseling, summer camp, swim lessons, teen leadership activities and many other life-changing programs.”
The Red Bank Rotary Club is a conglomeration of volunteers from many diverse professions and businesses who have one thing in common – to make Red Bank a better place in which to live and raise a family.
