County Clerk Encourages Students to Participate in Archives Photography Contest

County Clerk Christine Giordano Hanlon is inviting all Monmouth County high school students to enter the 2017 Archives and History Day Photography Contest, sponsored by the Monmouth County Clerk’s Office.

The Monmouth County Clerk’s Archives Division has been responsible for maintaining Monmouth County’s historical documents and records for 30 years. Each year, the Monmouth County Clerk’s Office hosts Archives and History Day, which promotes the importance of Monmouth County’s history and its preservation.

“This year, I am proud to announce this photography contest for high school students to showcase their favorite County historical site and their creative talents,” said Clerk Hanlon. “I also urge all high school principals and teachers in Monmouth County to share this contest with their students.”

The contest is open to high school students, who reside in Monmouth County and/or attend a high school in Monmouth County, to enter an original photograph of a historical site in Monmouth County, New Jersey. Entrants are permitted to be creative with usage of digital and/or traditional special effects.

The top three (3) winners will be awarded prizes by Clerk Hanlon and County officials at the 22nd Annual Archives and History Day between 11:15 a.m. and noon on Saturday, October 14, 2017 at the Monmouth County Library Headquarters, located at 125 Symmes Drive in Manalapan.

Entries will be accepted now until October 4, 2017 and will be accepted via email to CountyClerk@co.monmouth.nj.us and postal mail to Monmouth County Clerk Photography Contest, 33 Mechanic Street, Freehold, NJ 07728.
